From Swiss-Type Content to Tornos Training

Tornos is one of the world’s leading Swiss-type machine makers. As I worked to better understand SolidCAM’s more advanced Swiss machining side, I created a video around my learning process to help make it more approachable. That ended up getting direct attention from Tornos leadership, helped move SolidCAM’s tech center plan from a GT13 to a GT32, and led to hands-on training at their U.S. headquarters.

What I did

  • Learned SolidCAM’s more advanced Swiss side well enough to clearly explain the software and the machine process behind it

  • Started on an APSX Swiss machine and documented my learning process in a way that made the subject more approachable and caught Tornos’ attention

  • Was trained by Tornos’ staff at their U.S. headquarters on a GT32, moving from entry-level Swiss exposure to a much more serious machine

  • Helped convince Tornos to upgrade the machine they were planning to provide SolidCAM, moving it from a GT13 to a GT32

Business Impact

This built real credibility with Tornos, strengthened the relationship with SolidCAM, and gave me hands-on machine experience that translates well when working directly with customers and equipment.
