From Swiss-Type Content to Tornos Training
Tornos is one of the world’s leading Swiss-type machine makers. As I worked to better understand SolidCAM’s more advanced Swiss machining side, I created a video around my learning process to help make it more approachable. That ended up getting direct attention from Tornos leadership, helped move SolidCAM’s tech center plan from a GT13 to a GT32, and led to hands-on training at their U.S. headquarters.
What I did
Learned SolidCAM’s more advanced Swiss side well enough to clearly explain the software and the machine process behind it
Started on an APSX Swiss machine and documented my learning process in a way that made the subject more approachable and caught Tornos’ attention
Was trained by Tornos’ staff at their U.S. headquarters on a GT32, moving from entry-level Swiss exposure to a much more serious machine
Helped convince Tornos to upgrade the machine they were planning to provide SolidCAM, moving it from a GT13 to a GT32
Business Impact
This built real credibility with Tornos, strengthened the relationship with SolidCAM, and gave me hands-on machine experience that translates well when working directly with customers and equipment.
